Disaster Response
Red Cross volunteers are trained to respond to disasters day or night, providing refuge from the cold, warm clothing, a hot meal and even a shoulder to cry on. In addition to meeting the needs of disaster victims themselves, the Red Cross also assists relief workers by providing food and beverages as they continue to battle a blazing fire or assist residents during a flood or other emergency.
Locally, volunteers respond to about 160 disaster incidents each year. We rely on dedicated volunteers just like you to provide these crucial services to individuals and families in need. To learn more about becoming a trained American Red Cross disaster volunteer, please see the Disaster courses.
