Doug & Pat Nauman

Volunteer
Doug and Pat Nauman have been Grant Wood Area Chapter volunteers since 2005 and have completed thousands of hours of volunteer time within the last few years. Currently, they are our only two active Disaster Volunteers in Jones County.

Since becoming volunteers, they have responded to many local and national disasters. They responded to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and flooding in Kansas in July 2007, where they provided assistance w/ feeding and sheltering disaster clients.

In April 2006, tornadoes hit the Iowa City and Anamosa area and caused extensive damage. Their home was affected by the storm, however, that did not stop them from leaving their house and going to assist other people. They coordinated with our office and took on the responsibility of helping others that were affected by the storm and let us know what was needed. They were an incredible asset to that disaster and did a great job stepping up and taking that role. They also helped with sheltering clients affected by the Ice Storms in February 2007.
They delivered clean up kits to flooding clients in Iowa City in June 2007 and they were very much appreciated by the clients. They have responded to numerous fires in Jones County in the last few years, which is a huge responsibility. They helped tremendously during the national Iowa Tornadoes and Floods of 2008 response. Along with all of that they work to train new Red Cross volunteers.

They are an essential part to the Grant Wood Area Emergency Services Department and we greatly appreciate all they do for us.
